Go for Mechanical. Robotics is one of the hottest research areas in Mechanical.

The branch specifically dedicated to robotics is called Mechatronics but its available only in very few colleges. Mechatronics = mechanical + electronics, so u can work in robotics if u r either in the 2 branches i.e., mechanical or electronics.

Mechanical slightly more than electronics. Its like making the bot's body is mechanical part and making it work is electronics part. So both of them are equally important.. And dont worry abt branch. U can always work in robotics irrespective of ur branch, robotics wont be taught in either mechanical or electronics in college. Robotics is still more pronounced as a hobby than as a profession, so u will have to work on it ur own.

@Ayush, I just answered ur query in my last post. U can always work in robotics irrespective of ur branch. U just need motivation,a library, internet and some help from ur seniors and u can make ur own robot in no time.

there aint any prefrence...both the fields have to work together to make a robo move...further its ur intrest wat u wanna do apart from robo...moreover u will have to study about robots yourself like students make groups and clubs and den study together make projects and all..
