I want to know what most of goiitians would do if they were in such a situation....
Actually my dad is suggesting bits syaing that it has great reputation and also good placements. Also dad was saying that in bits we have something known as practice school during the vacations which only very few colleges have. Also that during last sem there will be 5 and half months of training in some industry too.so lot of exposure to the real world will be provided in bits...
I have as such visited both bits goa and vni nagpur and had a talk with students there .they told me that both of these institutes are great.
But I am kind of puzzled as in Bits I have to pay 1.4 lakh a year i.e minimum and at nit a minimum of 52,000 per year whereas niser is absolutely almost free as i have to just pay an initial fee of 20,000 and thats it for a year..
first find out whether all wat has been told 2 u is 100% ryt....den decide solely on d basis of ur interest......research is a very different field ....
u must hav dt kinda aptitude 4 makng it ur career....research actually requires u 2 work on problems whose outcomes r not known
so...it requires a gr8 deal of patience...perseverance.... dedication...commitment.........its a tuff career...n a monotonous one according 2 me.... i wud hav turned this offer down....specially wen i hav bits in hand...i wouldn hav gone 4 it.....but den...its my personal view!
The degrees offered to u are tempting of course. But how can u compare Msc. Physics with ece and eee. They are totally different fields.I don't think fees will be a problem for u as your father suggests u BITS.Tell me whats on your mind.If u wanted to do research, then go for Msc.Physics and serve the country.Else go for BITS Goa EEE.U will get a degree from BITS,Pilani.
first, whatever has been said about NISER bhubhaneswar is true. I have a friend there who gets most of the perks youve mentioned.
second, just compare the two, Btech= stable salary and many fields to diversify professionwise i.e. banking, software, core jobs, administration side of things etc. but MSc= research. no doubt there'll be lots of advantages, like NISER Msc student will get into practically any american university he applies to for PhD, but boss life toh research ki hi rahegi.
the salary will not be meagre by any standards in research and if you can get even one thing patented on your name, even one technology boss, welcome to the billionaire circle. But honestly, aiming for a patent would be very optimistiic on your part.
If I had the choices you have i'd take NISER anyday. the thrill of discovering an answer, thats why i studied for engineering in the first place and by the time i discovered how rhetoric engi is, i was pretty stuck. so research is awesome, somethign new and challenging for an entire lifetime.
