Books are a very important aspect of JEE preparation.Good books can do wonders for you.Hence discussion on this topic is imperative .For problem solving, note that it is the quality of problems that you solve and not the quantity matters.I will list the books which I felt were most helpful in tackling various topics.Note that studying from study materials supplied by coaching institutes is also very good ,provided the material is good. These materials are often very concise and are quite helpful during revisions.

I would like to strike ot the Irodov from the list. After HCV prefer the Ranker's study material from FIITJEE. It covers good number of subjectives + Objectives. Then , go for past year JEE questions. This is since the JEE pattern is now of an objective type , and only those subjective problems must be solved which give you mastery quickly.
MATHS :
M.L. Khanna + Past Year JEE Questions + FIITJEE study material - Problems
The theory books mentioned are good.
CHEMISTRY :
Organic - Girijesh Dubey + Boyd (Combine them)
Inorganic - O.P. Aggarwal suffices
TO TOP THE CREAM USE BRILLIANT YG FILES.
