statement 1: if f(x) and g(x) are continuous in [0,1],differentiable in (0,1) such that f(0)=2,g(0)=0,f(1)=6 and g(1)=2 then there exists a c such that 0<c<1 such that f'(c)=2g'(c) statement 2: if f(x) is cont in the closed int [a,b] and differentiable in open int(a,b) and f(a)=f(b),then there exists a k (a<k<b) such that f'(K)=0 pls giv the reason

Hey, From Lmvt,it is certain that there exist a c such that f'(c)=6-2=4 Similarly there exist a c(which may or maynot be equal to previous) such that g ' (c)=2-0=2 so it might not be the same "c" Hence the stament might be wrong.The next is Rolles theorem.

well... consider this function...
F(x) = f(x)-2g(x)
and then proceed....
then the reason becomes d correct explanation for d reason.....
i'm confused about it.....

@srini your statements were correct. you said that they might not be the same c. very correct. now as rishipritam said if you take
F(x) = f(x)-2g(x) now rolles theorm says that there exist some other c different from the above 2 c's where F'(x)=0.
