Consider a right angled triangle with hypotenuse=h, perpendicular=p and angle x.
For very small x (x tends to 0) :
arc length = perpendicular
hx = p
x = p/h = sinx
Hence when x tends to x = sinx
[x] [0] sinx/x = 1

consider an arc pq of a circle of radius r . 2x be the angle it subtends at the centre .
chord pq=2rsinx arc pq = 2xr as x tends to 0 arc pq tend to chord pq ie sinx/x tend to 1
limsinx /x =1 x-0
