we know the series of tan

 

tanx = x + x^3/3 + ...................

so on this means we have all odd power of x with postive coefficent. so for x<0 tanx should always be -ve which is false

 

where lies fallacy

This formula is valid when x is small. So, you can only consider small negative values of x.

the formula is only valid for |x|<pi/2
