make quadratic eqn i.e. 42y + 4 - 4x 4y   = 0

using quadratic formula 42x - 16 >=0

hence b option is correct

y=f(x)
so 4y+4/4y=4x

therefore t2-4xt+4=0 t=4y

t>0 for all x and

solve for t=4x+-sqrt(42x-16)/2

now f is defined if t is real and positive

therefore, 42x-16>=0

42x>=16

2x>=2

x>=1

further, we can see that if t is real, it i always positive.

hence f is defined if x>=1
