Find the equation of the line passing through (3,4) and making a triangle with co-ordinate axes with minimum area, in the 1st quadrant.

let line be x/a+y/b=1.....this gives...3/a+4/b=1......===>a=3b/(b-4)...area=1.2ab=3b^2/2(b-4)....diffrentiating and eqting to zero we get....b=8....so a=6line is 4x+3y-24=0

@A$PIRE for MORE 4x-3y =12 doesn't pass thru the given pt 3,4....The answer is indeed 4x+3y=24 ....cheers!!
