In a semi-infinite non- conducting rod(i.e. infinite at 1 direction only) has a uniform linear charge density lambda. Show that the electric field at a point P (perpendicular to 1 end at a distane R.........i.e the angle b/w the rod n the line joining the rod n point is 90) makes an angle of 45 with the rod n that this result is independent of the distance R

the same sum is there in irodove with a few alterations and the metod is the same. that is you got to take an element dx at a distance x from the end on the thread. find out the electric field due to this element at p and then vary it from 0 to l.then consider l>>r and make some necessary approximations.you will get the desired answer.
