Alternating Current
Physics

peak value of ac is 5A and its freq is 60 Hz. How to find the time taken by the current to reach its peak value?? I SAW THE SOLUTION. its given that it wud take 1/4th of its time period. Can it be explained?

ac means alternating current.dc means direct current.

how danger a current is depends upon the voltage it has. But DC is more dangerous as the frequency of AC keep on changing from max. to zero and min. to zero again... hence AC is variable but DC is not so AC puts jerks but DC is continuous so DC is more stronger and dangerous...

 yes, it can be explained by the fact that ac follows sine curve and you can solve it

Alternating current follows sine curve ...sine function has it's max value at 90 degrees....1/4 of it's time period which is 360 degrees (2 pi)

ac follows sine curve...max value of sine function is 1 which is attained at pi/2...i/4 of it's time period which is 2pi!!!

peak value AC current is root2 times the rms value .. again DC current does not show skin effect . so ac is more dangerous

I=I'sin(wt) [whr I'=max value of current;w=omega=2pi/T]. . .for I=I' . .sinwt=1 =>wt=pi/2 => 2tpi/T=pi/2 . .so t=T/4
