Q) Surface density of charge on the plate remains unchanged even if a dielectric is inserted b/w the plates? True or false?

Shud be FALSE.
On inserting dielectric, the capacity of capacitor increases. Now it can store more charge. And hence, its surface charge density shud increase.

Listen Dude,
if just have 2 plates, not coonected to any source of charge , and you insert a dielectric between them,
then neither the charge nor the surface area will change and the surface charge density will remain just the same.
(You should mention, whether the capacitor is connected to any source of charge or not).

Ya, that's obvious. If the capacitor is not connected to a battery, then the charge on it can neither increase nor decrease.
But I have answered it considering that it is connected to a battery.

See the Question is this way--
Assertion: A parallel plate capacitor is connected across battery through a key. A dielectric slab of constant K is introduced b/w plates.
Reason: The surface density of charge on the plate remains constant or unchanged.
Now tell whether reason is correct explanation of assertion?
