CAPACITORS-( hard one for me)
Engineering Entrance , Medical Entrance , AIPMT , JEE Main , AIIMS , JEE Advanced , Physics , Electricity

Q- A solid sphere of r=a & charge q, is surrounded by conducting concentric shell of inner r=2a & outer r=3a. find loss of energy when switch connecting inner solid and inner surface of shell is closed?? do reply wid solution...

See first a capicitor of charge q and capacitance 4*pi*e(ra-rb)/ra*rb would be formed..For second case the charge would be 2*q/3 And the capacitance would be same the energy would be energy difference betwwen them.....

charge flows fro outer sphere to inner sphere ...till their potential become equal....thre for....energy lost by the inner sphere is gained by the outer sphere ie no energy loss

when a capacitor of capacitance c1 ,charged to a potential v1,is connected with another capacitor..capacitance.c2 and potential v2....then charge flows from one capacitor to another one till their potential become equal....if we say no energy loss its not true...energy lost by one is gained by another...but there is an energy loss due to sharing charges...i think it may appear in the form of heat....that energy loss ,,,,delta u=C1C2(V1-V2)^2/2(C1+C2) POST LIKE IF U LIKE MY ANW

if u want derivation here it is.....common potential attained due to sharing charges V=c1v1+c2v2/c1+c2total energy before sharing charges..u1=0.5c1v1^2+0.5c2v2^2total energy after sharing....u2=0.5(c1+c2)v^2 put v=c1v1+c2v2/c1+c2 then find u2 -u1 okey now frnd
