Consider the motion of a particle of mass m and charge q thrown at some angle with the horizontal in the absence of electric field .Now if an electric field 2mg/q is switch on in horizontal direction.By what factor the time of flight will decrease?/

time of flight will not be affected...as time taken to top and coming back is same in both condition due to same gravitational force.

the horizontal component merely carries it forward...

but the vertical component only, decides the upward flight and is opposed by the gravity..

the deflection merely stretches the parabola and not shortens the time!
