A charge q is placed at the center of the line joining two equal charges Q.What will be the value of q such that the syatem if the three charges are at equilibrium?If e=electronic charge,what is the minimum magnitude of Q?

system will be in equillibrium if force between Q and q +force b/w Q and Q =0 so kQq/(r/2)^2 +kQQ/r^2 =0 so u will get q = -Q/4

take k/r^2common and u will get k/r^2[4Qq+Q^2] =0 so Q^2=-4Qq and q = -Q/4
|
