EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE

Engineering Entrance , Medical Entrance , AIPMT , JEE Main , AIIMS , JEE Advanced , Physics , Electricity

FIND THE EFFECTIVE RESISTANCE BETWEEN A&B. ALL THE BLACK COLOUR LINES HAVE R RESISTANCE AND ALL THE RED COLOUR LINES HAVE NO RESISTANCE.

YES THE DIAGRAM IS CORRECT. IT WAS AN OBJECTIVE QUESTION WHOSE ONE OPTION WAS R/2.SO MAY BE THE ANSWER GIVEN IS WRONG. HOW DID U GET R/2.

1) Remove red wire and take two ends (previouslyconnected by of red wire) to the centre.

2) Replace all four R , R parrallel combinations of resistances thus formed bu res. R/2

3) Two triangles are formed now....Upper triangle is an hanging resistance, detach it.

4) Lower triangle has Resistance R/2 across A,B.

Nw u see the two digonal wire having resistance u shuld realise that if they touch each other there would be spark and circuit wil fuse so detach them as an upper section of both wire on one side of the wire and lower on the other

Nw it wil b visible to u that upper section of digonal have resistance of triangle form by it WITH UPPERmost side as 2R/3 similarly the lower with AB as 2R/3 now draw its equivalent diagram nw tel me u get til there or nt
