existence of atom
Physics

the existence of atom is due to electromagnetic force...... My question is what is the role of NEUTRON in an atom....... Is it possible to remove neutron from atom...? If removed then what happens....? ..the atom does exist........?..... if not WHY.........?

Neutrons play a major role in the mass and radioactive properties of atoms. You may have just read about isotopes. Isotopes are created when you change the normal number of neutrons in an atom.

You know that neutrons are found in the nucleus of an atom. During radioactive decay, they may be knocked out of there. But under normal conditions, protons and neutrons stick together in the nucleus. Their numbers are able to change the mass of atoms because they weigh about as much as a proton and electron together.

U can surely seperate a neutron from an atom... thorugh radio active decays... nd yaa atom exists though there is removal neutrons..
