Suppose a battery is connected in a circuit. Now when the current in the circuit is in " " direction then the current in battery is in" "direction and when the current in the circuit is in " " direction then the current in battery is in" "direction, why?

In the external circuit current(+ve Charges) flow from higher potential to lower potential. Once these charges reach the negative terminal of the cell they acquire energy from the chemical reactions and build up sufficient potential to reach the positive terminal of the battery through the electrolyte . Note that the +ve teminal of the battery is at higher potential compared to the -ve terminal.

but they both are anti clockwise , i meant to say that if direction in battery is clockwise then in circuit it is anti clockwise, actually we were taught this only and i doubted the validity of this fact and now after you and suresan sir have posted the arguments i feel that we were taught wrongly.....if i am still wrong pls some one correct me

sniper c in the dig current flows from A to B meaning elctrons flow from B to A so inside battery if v c..negative chrg builds up @ A so..they flow from A to B inside battery which means current in battery flows from B to A
its not abt clockwise or anticlockwise...look only @ : from where to where current is flowing. in circuit from A to B and in battery from B to A
