four charges each of magnitude q ,are lying at the four corners of a square of side a.how much charge should be placed at centre of the square so that the whole system remains in equilibrium?(A)q/4(2root2+1) ,(B) -q/root2,(C)-2root2q,(D)-q/4(2root2+1)

ans is D.calculate net force on one of the four charges.it comes to beKQ^2/2a^2(22+1),diagonally outward.to balance this,central charge must be -ve.balancing force,we get ans asD
