Sugeet I think no one can answer this question convincingly. Few days back i recieved a question in this forum. The person was asking, " What is time?" and there also i said that we can't answer it because these things like charge and time are too fundamental to be answered in terms of other things.
It is one of the fundamental properties of elementry particles. We can talk a lot about what are the kind of charges and what are there properties etc but we can never tell what is charge.

CHARGE has no particular definition but it is the propety of matter. In actual any body lose or gain electrons, we say it aquires a charge.

it is a property of matter by which it can experience an electric field and magnetic field.......

charge is a fundamental property of matter by the virtue of which electric and other related effects are observed. its is very difficult to completely explain about charge as it is as fundamaental as mass and time.

LET ME TAKE YOU BACK 400 YEARS AGO WHEN THE DEFINITION GAVE BIRTH TO ITSELF WHEN TWO BODIES WERE RUBBED THEY WERE OBSERVED TO EXPERIENCE ANOTHER FORCE DUE TO EACH OTHER ..THIS FORCE WAS NOT GRAVIT. BUT STRONGER THAN IT....... THESE BODIES WERE SAID TO HAVE A PROPERTY WHICH THE MEN OF THAT TIME CALLED CHARGE..AND WE USE IT TO THIS DAY YOU SEE THERE IS NO PHYSICAL PICTURE OF CHARGE IT WAS A MERE PROPERTY AND BODY WERE SAID TO POSSES IT IF THEY EXPERIENCED THAT FORCE WHICH WE NOW CALL ELECTROSTATIC FORCE

in my view......charge is a relative term....if two bodies are placed and one of them has more electrons than the other then that body is negatively charged and the other is positively charged.......so charge means having electrons or protons...as simle as that

Charge is the intrinsic property of a substance due which its electrical and other related effects can be known.

charge is due to attractive power of am object. i.e it is a relative term it can only be experienced. +charge means the object has attracted some one n -charge means it has been attracted by someone
