how does an inductor and a capacitor work (or whether do they work) in D.C. circuit??(with D.C. source)

capacitor blocks DC. Xc = 1/2  C In dc  is 0 therefore Xc = infinity ie it provides infinite resistance to dc in the case of inductor, Xl = 2   L, so  = 0, therefore it doesnt offer any resistance and thus acts as conductor for it.
