2 identical parallel plate capacitors of capacitance C are connected in parallel to a 3 volt battery.the battery is disconnected and the two capacitors are joined in series.what is the potential difference b/w A and B? a-6 volt b-2volt c-3volt d-12 volt answer is (d)

if the +ve plate of one of the capacitor is connected to the negative plate then the potential difference is 6 V
|

i think the answer should be 6V because charge on each capacitor will be 3C and equivalent capacitance will be C/2 so potenial difference will be 6V
|

kindly click on picture for a better view and no need to ask for rates.the left hand plate of each capacitor in both the diagrams is positively charged.
