1. A non cond.sheet of large surf. area and thick. d contains unif.charge distub.of density p . find E at a point inside the plate at a distance x from the central plane. Draw a qualitative graph of E against x for 0<x<d.
2. the plates of capactior are 2 cm apart.an electron - proton pair is released in gap betw.the plates,the prot.reaches the -ve plate at the same time as the ele.reaches the +veplate. at what distance from the -ve plate was pair released.

for first question apply gauss law
take an arbitrary surface symmetrically about the central line with its edges at distance of x from centre
now (p*2x*A)/ = E*2x*l

for second question
electron....a=eE/me         proton....a=eE/mp
let the pair was released at a distance of x cm from negative plate
so s=1/2 at2
using it t2 =x*(2mp)/eE=(2-x)*(2me)/eE
now solve it to get x!
