"current flows in opposite direction of flow of electrons."

does that mean we are loosing electrons to power plant???(and we r paying for it Grin)

well....current is defined in terms of flow of positive charge  which is frm positive terminal to negative terminal.......electrons go frm negative to positive terminal...and it is in this case like how u have said we are losing electrons.......hope u got it......
ie flow of electrons and holes is opposite...

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

Hey, don't think much over that !!

Electronic charge is just taken as -ve , it may as well be taken positive ( don't take it on exams , as they will take ur marks as -ve !! ).

Instad note an interesting fact . See in classical electrodynamics we always have the quantity '' q v '' together , as a product form .

Now supose u take charge of electron to be positive then electron flow will be taken in the opposite direction ( i.e. along the current ) then laws of physics remain the same .

It is unfortunate that electronic charge was assigned -ve  and its reason was that when electricity was discovered first , people simply characterized two types of charges as + ve & -ve arbitrarily .
