27 identical drops of mercury are charged   to the same potential of 10 volt . what will be the potential if all the charged drops are made to combine to form one large drop. assume the drops to the spherical.

 let r be the radius of each small drop

the capacitance of the drop is  

the charge on each sphere is Q=CV...WHERE Q is charge C is capacitance and V is potential

the charge on 27 spheres is 27CV

THE radius of the larger sphere formed is 3r

the  capacitance of  this sphere is

since charge is conserved it rmains the same

the potential then is V1=Q/C1

Q=CV

V1=CV/C1=10/3

PLZ LET ME KNOW IF THE ANSWER IS CORRECT

Apply law of conservation of charge for all the drops and use the expression for capacitance of a spherical capacitor.
