Hi guyz, I got ma practicals tomorrow n i had dese doubts. generally, wich has greater emf, leclanche or daniel? also y do we use color codes 4 carbon resistors? y cant we just write the value of resistance on the resistors?

about your first qs........i know that......
leclanche's cell has a better emf or voltage........wahtever u might call it......... 1.5 volts.........
and daniel cell has that of 1.1 volts........
i'll prefer leclanche's cell anyday also becoz of its higher ohmic resistance which is a great asset for various uses...... especially for us enginneering........

arre yaar..............
would you want to use a lens everytime you want to see a value on a resistor??????????
c'mon.........its done because look how small the resistor is...... a colour coding means clear viewing........you can view it from any side.......360degree view........
and its abrasion resistance........its about clarity yaar.......
haven't u seen it being used for resistors capacitors inductors...........and god knows what else.....

colour code is used so that u dont have to write different values on all the resistors like 300 or 2000 or 157000 etc. which have different number of digits also. so to maintain uniformity, we use 4 color bands, 3 for numbers which r calculated from BBROYGBVGW and 4th band tells the tolerance (+- how many % of value).. 3rd band is also called multiplier band since that many zeroes have to be added. thus using just 4 bands we can write all values.
