Why do two ends of a long conducting wire have the same electric potential when connected in a closed circuit ?

i think your question is incorrect,if conducting wire is connected to battery along its end then their potential will be different because one end is connected to + terminal and other with - terminal....

its ideally. v assume wire to be of zero resistance. ie potential drop {ir} is 0
