question on gauss thoeorem
None

consider the charge configuration and a spherical gaussian surface as shown in the figure.when calculating the flux of the electric field over the spherical surface, the electric field will be due to:
a) q2
b)only the positive charges

due to +q1 and -q2 since the Gauss's theorem is works with the net flux through the surface. Then we need to workout the flux due to every single charge with in the surface.

dude it will be due to all charges.....look in hcv..everywhere its written that E is due to all charges present there...

electric field is due to all the charges however flux is due to charges inside the guassian surface..

remember this always

yup
in gauss lass electric field will be due to all charges present in surroundings
whether outside or inside gaussian surface.
bt flux will only due to charges present inside gaussian surface.

Field will be due to all the charges
( but flux due to the charge outside will be 0 since number of field lines entering the sphere are the same as those leaving it)

hey i saw the same ques in some other book with an extra option
ie( field will be uniform on the surface)
and that is the correct answer given there
so  the anwer i think should be due to all charges and the field should be uniform

spidey flux due to outside chrg is 0..so how does it affect the field...do u mean sumtin lik it creats a field whcih has mag 0..n so it also contributes?

yep phi = integral (E.ds.cos @)
net integral is 0 but not necessary that E = 0
