SHORT CUT
Engineering Entrance , Medical Entrance , NEET , JEE Main , AIIMS , JEE Main & Advanced , Physics , Electricity

12 WIRES , EACH OF RESISTANCE r ARE JOINED TOGETHER TO FORM A CUBE. FIND THE EQUIVALENT RESISTANCE IN THE EDGE OF CUBE . I DID IT USING KIRCHOFF LAW N FOUND IT TO BE VERY LONG.PLEASE GIVE ME A SHORTCUT TO SOLVE IT. I WILL BE REALLY THANKFUL!

7r/12 is the answerdo it using symmetry it is very easy...just take symetry about the edge about which you want tofind answer consider the edge to be AB i.e current is entering into circuit at A and going out at B then the points at which the current is directly coming from A at same point and point from which current is directly coming to B are at same point redraw the diagram and now solve it wud be easily solved.....

take a cube let about the edge AB you wana find resistence ok...now consider that a batry is conected to AB with positive terminal attatched to A and negative to B now see the points corners at which current is directly going from EXCLUDING B there will be 2 such points similarly 2 such points will be there from which B is directly geting current consider the 2 points for A at same position and FOR B at another position and reconect resistences

and let me tell u that dont loose heart if u dont gt to understand symmetry i also took a month to learn to apply it.u cn also take help of ur teachers...

yes, i got 2 point corners from where current directly goes.WHAT TO DO AFTER THAT?BTW THANKS! YOU HAVE BEEN REALLY VERY HELPFUL...

take those corners at one point now similarly find 2 such points for B take them at one point and then re drew the circuit by puting resistences b/w the points as earlier and the circuit will gt simpler and easy to solve..and ya ek student hi student ke dard ko smajh skta hai......he he so no thank u(s)......if u still dont gt it then tell me the steps u followed i will point out the error.....

NOW IN YOUR FIGURE, the points in which current equal to i is going are at same point let it be Q and the points from which current i is coming to B are at same point let it be W THE YOU WILL GET two resistences b/w A nd Q two B/W B nd W AND CONECT REST OF THEM AS BEFORE

hey,in ur image u took i same in all three branches coming out of A...how??ther isnt any symmetry to consider so..(only two of them should have same i and other should be diff)
