E1 -E2= V2 ----------2
HENCE,E1 = V2 + E2 -------------FROM 2
REPLACING THIS IN EQN 1
E2 + V2 + E2= V1
2E2=V1-V2
E2=V1-V2 / 2 SIMILARLY E1=V1+V2 / 2

When Batteries are connected in series whith their like polarites connected togather, they opposes each other in the loop.

Hence V₁=E₁- E₂

For second case:

V₂=E₁+ E₂

Hence:

E₁=(V₁+V₂)/2

E₂= -(V₁-V₂)/2

Hence answer is b

THANKS FOR CORRECTING MY MISTAKE BUT BOTH OF OUR ANSWERS ARE SAME.

I DON THINK THAT INTERCHANGE OF EQN MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE.
IF IT MAKES PLS LET ME KNOW.

MOREOVER, AS FAR AS ABOVE PROBLEM IS CONCERNED, MARELY FINDING THE ANSWER IS NOT THE ISSUE, BUT THE CONCEPT.

IN ANY CIRCUIT, IF BATTERIES OR ANY VOLTAGE SOURCE ARE CONNECTED WITH THIER LIKE POLARITIES TOGATHER, THEY OPPOSES EACH OTHER IN THE LOOP.

When like plates are connected
V₁ =

₁ -

₂
When unlike plates are connected
V₂ =

₁ +

₂

Hence

₁ = (V₁+V₂)/2
and

₂ = (V₂ - V₁)/2

I ONLY WROTE THAT THOUGHT SINCE I GET ENCOURAGED BY IT AND SO I WANTED OTHERS 2 READ IT.NY ONLY INTENTION WAS 2 SHARE THAT THOUGHT.U TOOK IT THE WRONG WAY.
