SCIENTISTS SAY THAT THE UNIVERSE IS INFINITE,
THEY ALSO SAY THAT IT IS EXPANDING.
THEN WHAT IS THE UNIVERSE EXPANDING INTO IF IT IS ALREADY INFINITE,
SINCE TO EXPAND, THERE MUST BE SOME EMPTY SPACE OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSE???

who said that it is infinite?? there has to be a limit....just bcoz v cannot measure it, it doesnt mean it is infinite....

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

@jackgoestoiit

dude.....i think

wat we have discovered till now (in space) we call it as universe....

the things beyond it (yet to be discovered) are the outer part of the universe.....

i mean universe is expected to be of 93 billion light years.....but there must be some space beyond it...

u cant say universe is infinite.....

Hey, I think universe is really infinite because there's NO SPACE outside universe. Space is also in universe so why some the space will be beyond universe?
Actually Universe is a mixture of Heavenly bodies and Space.
A thing is infinite, it means that it is slightly larger than you think. Now think, and the value of infinity is much larger that it.
i.e. A thing without limit hasa limit called infinity.

Universe is expanding simply means that the relative distance between the celestial bodies is constantly increasing !!

jack there's a fundamental flaw in ur question. as far as da fabric of space is concerned its expansion is due to da anti-gravity field of vacuum and it isnt engulfing any space 'outside'. acc. to hawking's no-boundary solution if curved space wid app. pf non-euclidean differential geometry doesnt have any punctures or asymptotes or singularies then it is finite but wid no boundaries. i hope tht explains it, nudge me if it doesnt. nehow as far as ur erroneous representation is concerned if an infinite space was expanding then as per a reconcilation of divergences any operation on infinity wud still keep it to infinty. so even though it isnt da case infinity plus 1 or nethin else wud still b infinity.

guys this question is in real debate wid the top scientist s themselves.......ok so there is no really accepted answer to this question that universe is expnading....it is said that it follows hubble law ....wid hubble constant 71 km/s/Mpc............yeah it is infinitely expanding

i am well....and hope u r in the same well....

look dude....
wt i figured out is dat by universe,we mean the whole empty space dat extends far beyond the limits of the clusters of celestial bodies or galaxies dat r proposed to exist......as such d universe is realy infinite as this empty space extends endlessly....
evn b4 d big bang tuk place,whn all d matter ws condensed in a superdense state of tiny dimensions,te universe ws infinite,cos d space surrounding dat tiny speck of matter ws infinite....

and by stating dat d universe is xpandin,we simply mean dat d celestial bodies and galaxies are movin farther away 4m each other into dat endess space....

@supercool
does dat xplanation mk me a contender??
