say,velocity of stream is V1 & velocity of man is V2.also for the situation to be possible V2>V1.let man make an angle A with line joining the opp. points.A=cos^-1(V1/V2).the man must head in this direction.

ask him to start swimming towards d other shore because u never reach ur goal unless u start travelling towards it...
