i and j are vectors along x and y axis resp. What are the components of vector

= 2i + 3j along the directions of i+j and i - j ..................

just take dot product n divide by moduli;
for component of x on y: comp=|x.y| / |y|
on i+j : (2+3)/root2 = 5/root 2
on i-j : (2-3)/root2 = 1/root2
