Why can't we name a folder as "CON" or "con"?

Actually you cannot name anything as CON.

maybe sum system files also have same name.......so they dont accept CON for saving it.........just a guess..

MAGIC #1

An Indian discovered that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the

computer which can be named as "CON". This is something pretty

cool...and unbelievable... At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer

why this happened!

TRY IT NOW ,IT WILL NOT CREATE " CON " FOLDER

MAGIC #2

For those of you using Windows, do the following:

1.) Open an empty notepad file

2.) Type - Bush hid the facts (without the quotes)

3.) Save it as whatever you want.

4.) Close it, and re-open it.

is it just a really weird bug? :-??

happened!

It was discovered by a Brazilian. Try it out yourself...

Open Microsoft Word and type

=rand (200, 99)

And then press ENTER

@Magic #2 that is in 4-3-3-5 format. Type anything like that will cause the same problem.

@ magic #3 change that 99 to any two digit number it will reduce the pages of the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog pages.

The time has changed and Operating System can also be fooled! But still, many people think that it is not possible to create a folder by name CON. Using the path of network drive, these special names can also be used as folder names! Here is how:

Goto DOS

Type MD \\.\C:\CON. The folder will be created. You can check it in Windows Explorer also, but you can’t access it

To delete the folder, type RD \\.\C:\CON

In short, use the network path syntax instead of absolute path syntax.

why we can’t create a folder by name CON, say with confidence that it is not true…

I was asking to create a file as CON without the commands. Just click on new folder and try to name as CON.

Answer to Magic 3

The sentence which you get is a sentence which has all the alphabets from english dictionary and it is used to test it.So,it is not like that it cannot be answered by Bill Gates.It is a pangram

jus happened to notice this thing

#magic 3

the pangram was repeated 200*99 times

so wen any 2 digit no. othr than 99 was used(obviously less than 99) the number of lines wer reduced!!

real kooooooool trix!

nd 1 more thing::

try this variation

=rand(n digit number, n-1 digit number)

the second number must have 1 digit less than the 1st number!!

so number of pangrams wud be = product of the nos.

they are micosoft keywords.they cannot b used as folder names.......try with PRT1, PRT2....till PRT9.......and LPT1, LPT2......till LPT9.......TRY A GOOGLE SEARCH OR MICROSFT SEARCH.......U WILL GET IT.......RATE ME......
