1st of all in this case in the question domain n codomain shud be mentioned... suppose codomain is all non-negative Reals then y=x^2 is an onto function as range is also non-negative reals..
but if co-domain is all real val(neg n pos n 0) then y=x^2 is 'into' as range is non-neg reals only.. tht is there exists values in the codomain which do not act as a mapping for ne value of x.. i.e in this case for neg values of y..no x exixts hence its into

if n(A)=n(B) then no. of functions= r^n - rC1(r-1)^n + rC2(r-2)^n.....
