We all know that light travels faster than sound. Then why do we hear the sound first and then see the pixellated images on TV ? . . . . all replies welcome!!

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

that is in some channels only.. and that is because it is not the ACTUAL LIGHT AND SOUND.. it is radio and satellite transmitted signals which the television set receives and converts to audio and video for us.

mismatch of timing of transmission of transmitting channel.. most tv networks dont have this problem only a few sometimes have it.

Ufff! lol kishan.. keping those time differences in mind, signals are transmitted so that end result main video and audio match. Par jahan gadbad ho jaati hai, the video and audio dont match.

yaar spidey,it happens eveywhere,in any channel.Maybe I wasnt clear - you dont hear the sound from the channel, but you hear a crackling sound first. Kishan's explanation seems to fit the bill...once the cathode ray tube gets heated, audio mmatches video....but before that only sound reaches us.

TVs have cathode ray tube, which work on the cathode rays that hit the TV screen providing different colors. This is automated by the the signals that come from cable lines or other possible sources. The audio on the other hand is automated by the electromagnetic signals in the speaker.

It's simple really.....The electron gun of the tv takes some time to haet up and form the images on the screen, but the audio signals are directly converted to sound waves and the speakers donot reqire any such time as the electron gun.

But oh! my foes and ah! my friends,
It gives a lovely light.
