A man can swim with a speed of 4.0kph in still water. How long does he take to cross a river 1.0 km wide if the river flows steadily at 3 kph

unless the direction of motion of the swimmer is specified or some condition is given . thsi question does not have a single answer .

Assuming that the man is swimming perpendicular to the bank.Vector speed - 5 km/h. (vector sum of 4 and 3)Distance is 1 km.therefore time will be 12 minutes.
