Aieee question 32 Set D- have mentioned the q inside

General

In an experiment the angles are required to be measured using an instrument. 29 divisions of the main scale exactly coincide with s0 divisions of the vernier. If the smallest division of the main scale is half degree (0.5degree), then the least count of the instrument is???

1)one degree

2)half degree

3)One minute

4)half minute

Anyone plz tell me a ans for this.. its one minute according to me

i think it will be half degree,,,,m not sure but i think....because least count of a scale is the minimum reading,,,here the smallest divoision is 0.5 degree so we can measure smallest angle as 0.5 degree

........ .

it is one minute

one V S D= (29/30)*(1/2)

one MSD = 1/2

LC = MSD-VSD

=1/60

yeah...

L.C=Value of 1 msd/no. of divisions on the vernier

=0.5degree/30

=30min/30

=1 minute.
