Kinetic energy can not change without change in the momentum moreover the absolute value of momentum should change for this to take place. However, momentum can change without change in the kinetic energy of the particle. For example when the direction of momentum or velocity changes from -mv to +mv, then change in momentum is 2mv but change in kinetic energy = 0.
