The most basic factor is.. DENSITY... which u alrdy knw i suppose.... the next thng is streamline shape of the sship wich makes it to float... actually FLOATING process of a body is guided by LAW OF FLOATATION ... according to that.. IF THE MASS OF THE WATER (or ANY FLUID IN WICH THE BODY IS EMERSED) DISPLACED BY THE BODY IS MORE THAN THE MASS OF THE BODY THEN IT GETS SUBMERGED but IF IT IS LESS THEN THE MASS OF THE BODY THEN THE BODY FLOATS... So due to this... SHIP FLOATS WHEREAS NAIL SINKS...
