give examples where a)the vel.of a particle is zero but its acceleration is not zero b)the vel. is opposite in the direction to the acceleration c)the vel. is perpendicular to the acceleration.

Case when velocity is zero but acceleration is non zero
1) When a particle is thrown vertically upwasrds then at the topmost point v = 0, but a = g i.e. non zero
2) In case of SHM say simple pendulum the bob at extreme positions has velocity v = 0, but acceleration a = -(k/m) x and is non zero
Case when velocity is opposite in the direction to the acceleration.
1) Particle thrown upwards, then during upward motion, velocity is opposite to the direction of acc i.e. g which is downwards
2) In case of SHM when particle is moving away from the center then direction of accn is always towards the center or equilibrium but velocity is opposite in direction
