A projectile crosses half its maximum height at a certain instant of time and again 10s later. calculate the maximum height. If the angle of projection is 30degrees, calculate the maximum range of the projectile as well as the horizontal distance it travelled in the above 10s. regards sreenivas

Let initial velocity of particle be u. Its two components are ux = 0.866u uy=0.5u vertical velocity of particle at half the maximum = uy/sqrt(2) vertical velocity of particle when it again reaches half the maximum = -uy/sqrt(2) It happens in 10 sec Applying v = u+at in this period sqrt(2)uy = 10g Taking g = 10 uy = 50sqrt(2) or u = 100sqrt(2)
MAx range = u^2/2g = 1000 m Horizontal distance in those 10 sec = ux*10 =sqrt(3/2)*1000

bcoz, 1) density of salt water is more than that of normal water.... 2) due to upthrust..... i.e acc. to archimedes principle.... hpoin ot clears ur doubt !!!

1) WHy does a red rose appear red?(is it due to light) & also 2) Why can a mosquito float on water whereas a pin of same mass and size as the mosquito sinks inside the water? XPECTED SCIENTIFICALLY

1) an object appears to be of a certain colour because it has a certain pigment which reflects that colour and absorbs light of all other wavelengths when white light falls on it

2) is due to surface tension of water... and also even a pin can be made to float if u do it slowly and carefully enough.. a mosquito floats and a pin generally sinks as the pressure exerted by the latter is more as it has comparitively less surface area for contact. pressure is inversely proportional to area of contact.
