The no of hours you have to study depends upon how much are you prepared and how much you have to prepare. Well, I can suggest you a maths book- Tata McGraw Hill. Its the best book in maths in the market for JEE.

Well your study basis should not be the hours consumed but it shud be the amount of concepts covered. For this, u shud study for atleast 6 hrs a day. The maths text books are: Tata McGraw Hill M.L. Khanna

Work according to your capacity. Minimum 6 hours should be devoted per day. Well you must clear your basics it will help in boards and in competitive exams too. And do TMH in maths, it's a good book.

I can't understand why 6 hours is set as minimum. I mean, first of all, IIT portions can be finished by devoting less than 6 hours a day.
Moreover, my neighbour who cleared IIT just studied 3 hours a day after play and music. This is weird :(

If I say, 15 hours of mugging is necessary to get into IIT, are u going to get so much time into ur ife every day????
So, stop thinking of such questions. Work as much as u can. Always try to make best use of time. http://www.goiit.com/posts/list/counselling-i-am-in-trouble-pls-help-me-34547.htm#174191
Regardign book for maths, the best book i have ever seen for IITJEE maths is "Mathematics for IITJEE by RD Sharma". TMH and das gupta are also considered to be good. As u ar ein 12th right now, i suggest Das Gupta.
