A man pulls a rope attached to ground with 80N. The rope makes an angle of 40o to the ground. Calculate
            i) The effective value of the pull tending to move the stone along the ground and
ii) The force tending to lift the stone.

The component of force along horizontal direction = 80*cos(40) which is pulling force.

The component of force along vertical direction = 80*sin(40) which is lifting force.

hi dude......
this ques is simple.....
i don't know what prob r u facing in this !!!!!
see,
clearly the force which is causing to move the stone in the horizontal direction is its component along the horizontal i.e.
F cos  = 80* cos 40 80* 0.62 =49.6 N

& similarly.
the force which is tending to lift the stone is the vertical component of this force i.e.
 F sin  = 80* sin 40  80* 0.55 =44 N

thats it.......
rate if u got it.....:)

Till now, fate was leading me to somewhere so called nowhere, but now, itz time for me to lead it somewhere & it won't be nowhere this time..........
