ofcourse its SUN.........its abt .000016 ly(aprox) away frm earth....while others like proxima centuri , alpha centuri etc - the distance frm earth goes on increasing frm 4.2 then 4..3 ly n so on..... ly-light years

Yaar i remember that my teacher taught us that the nearest star is Sirius to the earth.

toh wouldn't earth had been in SIRIUS SYSTEM rather than SOLAR SYSTEM.......LOL......

the nearest star to earth is, of course, SUN and the next nearest is Alpha Centauri. and wat do u mean by how?

hey dude .. ur wikipedia is still wrong.. there r three stars tht share the same spot.. they r alpha centauri A,B.(binary star system).and their companion star proxima centauri... out of them alpha centauriA is biggest and com is towards it the most..

hey we define a star as a body which emits light but the asteroid also liberate light so why we dont include them in stars?? this was question which is in my mind since i was in VII

if a star is defined as an object which emits light, wat about light bulbs , insects that glow in the dark (i think its called a fireworm) , teachers who emit red light when they get angry?
are they all stars?
