I am interested in knowing why many students prefer to join IIT. Is it because you want quality education or is it because its just the IIT after all ( that is for the NAME ). I am a class XI student..

I'll be happy to have honest answers from all those who reply. Now that the exams are over, I guess all can afford to spend some time..

hiii
well this is tough question.
Let me tell u what is the truth. See the facilities in IIT are great no doubt about it and there are some professors who are gr8 but this is the case with all places. What makes IIT different from other places is the people in IIT i.e. the students. When u live, interact, work with some of the most bright people in the country u are bound to learn a lot. This is why IITians are in high demand.
The name IIT is not just like that .. it is the students who pass out of this place and do some really gr8 stuff and keep this name alive ..
And above all, coming to IIT means there is a gr8 carees ahead of you and thus many prefer IIT.
But just remember one thing .. always in life one shud do which he/she wants to do and not go just by what other people are doing. So, try to go for IIT only when u want to be there. Otherwise the hard IIT system will break you.
cheers

Thanks for the reply puneet. But the question was not personal (ie) not concerning me. It was just a general doubt.

Pardon me, intelligent GoIITians, for me being patriotic....but what is the result of studying 4 years in IIT. Will you guys serve the nation with your brain or will you guys go after eight figure salary in dollars....the latter sounds more promising?

Regular guys have to struggle a lot once they come out to find a suitable job. IITIANS go thru a similar struggle before they come out and the result of this struggle is hundred times sweeter than the former.Thats why iit rocks

1. Prasad_aspirant Dear, IITs are still 3rd best Tech institutes institutes in the world after MIT and California University ( or University of California, I don't know which ). Stanford, Oxford all stand behind IITs as far as technology related studies are concerned.
2. Totally disagree with the useless comment by blaze90. If you are gifted enough to get into an IIT, going and settling abroad is is an act of pure selfishness. You do have responsibilities towards your nation and towards your society. And yeah !! if you do want to leave this " poor hopeless nation " first make sure you pay back each and every penny worth of resources you have consumed for past 20 years, protection you have got within your own people and pay back for all the pains this nation has suffered to bring you up. I know, you will go bankrupt paying for those invaluable deeds, so you may not like to do that. But please make sure you Don't call yourself Indian after you settle your petty passions of living in a " Better country than India ". I think Parasite would then be a much better noun to describe you.
