why a round convex/concave lens gives a square image?

What do you mean by square image?

Conccave and conves lens simply gives image that is magnified the magnitude of which depends on where the object is placed on the principle axis.

what is square image..It simply gives the image of the object..
either magnified,diminished or of same size depending on the placement of the object
