Calculate the distance d, so that a real image of an object at O, 15cm in front of a convex lens of focal length 10cm be formed at the same point O. The radius of curvature of the mirror is 20cm. Will the image be inverted or eract?

see, using lens formula u will get v= +30cm. now, the image of lens will act as object for the mirror. to get the image back at O, the image should be formed at the centre of curvature.( 20cm from the mirror) so, d = 20cm + 30cm = 50cm.

Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.

i agree with ashgirl. In the setup she mentioned, the image will be real. However, another soln exists i.e. Image of lens at pole of mirror. This will give d = 30 cm and img will be inverted

u = -15, f = 10 then v = 30 cm Distance from the lens to mirror d = R + v = 50 cm. The final image will be errect.
