a thin rodof length d/3 is placed along the pricipal axis of a concave mirrorof focal length=d such that its image, which is real and elongated, just touches the rod. find the length of the image

solution::: in a concave mirror we need to take to concepts into consideration::: i>in case of a concave mirror the image is formed on the object only when then the object is placed at radius of curvature. ii>the image is magnified and real and inverted only when object is placed between C and F and at F. here, the farther end is at 2d and near end is at 2d-d/3=5d/3. the image of farther end is at 2d itself.............(refer to point (i)) and applying mirror formula get the position of near end,we get the position of image to be 5d/2 on same side as that of the object. thus, image length=5d/2-2d=d/2 THUS,THE LENGTH OF THE IMAGE OF THE ROD IS 0.5d OR d/2. PLEASE RATE ME....
