Can anybody explain what is the difference between crown and flint glasses!!!


Also why a combination of crown and flint glasses is used in making a achromatic combination of prisms...

basically flint glass is lead oxide optical glass wid HIGH REFRACTION nd low dispersion.........

whereas crown glass is a soda lime glass which is exceptionally hard nd clear nd has LOW REFRACTION nd low dispersion.....
