If there are scratches on the lens of the camera they dont appear on a phototgraph taken with the camera.Why is it so?? Do scratches affect photograph at all??

Arre dude that is because the picture is not actually taken through the viewfinder lens! But if you're talkin of the camera lens which needs to be covered generally (not the one u look through)traditional cameras capture light onto photographic film or photographic plate, and if THAT glass surface is spoilt, your images can go bad... but the viewfinder lens doesn't matter...that's for us to see what we are photographing.

Single-lens reflex means that the same lens is used for viewing and taking the photograph.
Then the image will not be of perfect quality
